About Riccardo Spina

I have been captivated by the power of the lens for as long as I can remember. What began with my first camera as a teenager evolved into a lifelong professional pursuit, leading me to study at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. It was there that I refined my technical skill and developed a deep appreciation for the narrative potential of a single frame.

My work sits at the intersection of observation and creation. I draw inspiration directly from the images I capture, often using them as a foundational blueprint for my drawings and paintings. This multidisciplinary approach allows me to reimagine the world, blending the raw honesty of street and documentary photography with the expressive possibilities of mixed media.

My objective is to convey profound emotions and immortalize moments that resonate with significance and relevance. I believe that art allows us to see our world through a different lens—reimagining the familiar in unique ways. For me, photos are the vital link to remembering those "Illuminations" that define our human experience.

Currently while I travel the world I continue to explore the relationship between the captured image and the hand-drawn line.
